Gas Line Plumbing Services
Fortunately, gas lines do not often need repair. When they do, it is usually the result of corrosion in an underground gas line or a ruptured gas line due to house settling or earthquake. If your gas line needs repair, I can fix it and run a test of the entire system to make sure you have no other gas line leaks or other issues.
Most of my work with gas lines involves gas line installation. Upgraded gas appliances, installation of gas fire pits or gas heaters, replacing an electric appliance with a gas version, and preparing an additional dwelling unit (ADU) all require new gas line installation.
Gas Line Installation
Most homes are built with just enough gas capacity for the appliances that were originally installed in the home. That means that you’ll probably need a new gas line run from the meter if you want more (or larger) gas appliances. That requires a permit and a final inspection by the county.
The good news is that your home will be safer for it because new building codes require an earthquake shutoff valve for any new gas line installation.
You may know that the 1906 San Francisco earthquake destroyed 25,000 buildings. And 90% were destroyed by fires caused by gas leaks.
More recently in the 1995 Kobe Japan earthquake, 148 separate fires destroyed 6,513 buildings. That’s why an earthquake shutoff valve is a good thing.
