Water Lines For Refrigerator/Water Line For Fridge

Installation of refrigerator water lines is among my most-requested standard plumbing services. In most cases, I can install or connect a new refrigerator water supply line farily easily. This is especially true if there is an existing water line near the refrigerator. I’ll help you choose between flexible plastic tubing and more durable copper tubing. I’ll flush the existing line make the connection securely and test it thoroughly before I leave.

While I usually use stainless steel braided flex line, sometimes with longer waterlines copper tubing is used. I always leave enough length on the water line to ensure that someone can pull the fridge or freezer unit away from the wall in order to clean or make repairs when needed. We flush the water line to make sure there is no sediment or air trapped in the line, which could cause a leak behind your fridge.

Sometimes, in older homes or if you are putting a fridge in a new location, I’ll need to figure out the best way to run a new water line to the refrigerator. Over the year’s I’ve installed 100’s of refrigerator water lines. I’m extremely comfortable with any kitchen configuration, wherever your fridge is located in your home, I can still successfully run a water line to it, possibly going behind cabinets to connect to the sink, perhaps through the walls, attic, crawlspace, or under a deck or patio (for an outdoor kitchen).

Many homeowners don’t know that refrigerators cause more water damage than any other appliance, Perhaps it has to do with the fact that they are most-likely to be installed by non-professionals. Even the installers who deliver the appliance have almost no plumbing training.
